We bring personal stories to life in personal spaces

Kollective is an interior design studio, founded by principal designer Anna-Jaël Hotzel. We work based on the idea that your story is your own and should be reflected in the space you call home. Kollective works with clients to help them discover the meaning in their experience and bring that meaning to life in their space. We design spaces that feel warm, modernist, and narrative using color, textiles, and art. We believe that home is where we can most fully be who we are and that nothing is more personal than home.
Ornament ist kein Verbrechen.

About Anna-Jaël

Anna-Jaël was born in Germany but spent much of her early life in Sebastopol, California. She attended UC Berkeley and holds degrees in fine art and sociology. Her curiosity informs her approach to design, and she brings it into her work through the use of color and imaginative details. She draws inspiration from modernism, Italian rationalism, and Northern California architecture of the 1960s. Currently, she resides in Portland, Oregon, and works on projects both locally and abroad. In her freetime she runs a secret food blog and enjoys traveling to architects' homes and studios.
